The purpose of this position is to provide professional, technical, and administrative work of above-average difficulty in supporting the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) needs of the City. This includes but is not limited to, working with other departments and/or divisions to evaluate areas where the application of GIS can be used to facilitate improvements; configuring and maintaining map-centric web applications and web services; configuring and maintaining enterprise geodatabases in relational database management (RDBMS) software, and acting as team lead for GIS projects. This position will concentrate on GIS-Centric related applications, Cityworks Administration, Laserfiche, ArcGIS Enterprise their associated servers and data repositories. Work performed is under the general supervision of the GIS Manager or designee.

Ability to confer with vendors in evaluation of equipment, software, products, cost factors and utility; develops specifications for purchase requisitions. Ability to make technical decisions, handle administrative matters, coordinate special projects, make independent judgment and take initiative in planning work details. Ability to coordinate the development and implementation of design specifications for the GIS database to ensure overall system compatibility. Ability to coordinate with other departments in the evaluation of existing equipment and/or software, along with knowledge of operating systems and basic programming. Extensive knowledge of data processing with emphasis in GIS environments, plotters and other peripherals pertaining to graphics and imaging use on computers. Extensive knowledge of geography and cartography. Considerable knowledge of GIS software and relational database software packages. Ability to manage and prioritize demands from various departments, along with maintaining effective working relationships at all levels. Ability to work in a high paced, mission-focused environment. Ability to manage and prioritize routine, specialized and complex assignments and problems utilizing knowledge acquired through prior education, training, and experience. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment. Requires demonstrated ability to utilize personal computer and office software such as MS Word, MS Excel and electronic mail. Ability to manage and prioritize routine, specialized, and complex assignments and problems. Ability to organize tasks in a logical and systematic manner. Ability to understand and adhere to procedures and policies. Skill in supporting and training end-users in the use of multiple applications. Skill in using Microsoft Office applications. Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment.
